About Us

The Apothecary is a small compounding pharmacy located in the southwestern corner of New Hampshire. Established in 1969 by the late George Roentsch, The Apothecary staff has continued his legacy with attention to each patient’s needs. Staff loyalty, this attention to each patient’s needs and customer satisfaction have made this pharmacy unique, appreciated by the local community by being voted in The Keene Sentinel as the Best Local Pharmacy of 2014 and 2015, and in the Monadnock Shopper News as the Best Independent Pharmacy of 2015.
20150904_124122 (1)Compounding is the art and science of preparing personalized medications for patients, providing solutions that are not met by commercially available products. Unlike large sterile compounding labs, The Apothecary is a neighborhood pharmacy, known for its attention to its customers. Patients often require specialized dosing of medications, due to allergies, inability to swallow or unavailable dosage units. The Apothecary specializes in dose specific capsules, creams, gels, liquids and ointments that will address each patient’s needs. These customized compounded medications are a result of physician or veterinarian, patient and pharmacist consultation.
The Apothecary compounds for animals as well as for people, making hard to give medications in forms that are easier to administer: a flavored liquid, a transdermal gel or a treat.
The Apothecary also carries a large offering of nutritional supplements and will special order whenever possible.

Remembering George Roentsch, as seen in the January 2012 issue of APOTHAGRAM, a monthly publication from Professional Compounding Centers of America.
